This is our Blog. That's short for web log, which just means a place to write about things - anything really.

Our blog will be a bit of a mixture of inspiring stories, something that happened on a particular day, maybe photos of the children and there will be articles of different sorts.

The main aim is for it to be interesting!

Our full access members can make their own blogs too - so you can let others know what's happening in your life - and we'd love to know!

These blogs are a permanent record, so no matter when you join us, you'll be able to look back through some of the older entries too.

Oh, and our members can add comments on any of the blogs too - it's a great way to get feedback, or put in your 'two bob's worth'!

Enjoy :)

Sleep is goooood

posted by Vivienne McDonald, Group AdministratorSaturday, June 6th 2009 @ 10:07 AM    post viewed 348 times

Wow, last night I had 8 1/2 hours sleep!  Still woke a couple of times through the night, but even so, all together, I had amassed over eight hours sleep. It was so great to wake up this morning and feel the fog had lifted.

I had read an article just the day before about four really good reasons to get enough sleep. One of them was a belief that there's a chemical that's produced by the body that tells the body it's had enough to eat. And there's another one that tells the body it's hungry. And guess what? They suspect that insufficient sleep gets these messages mixed up! No wonder I'm putting on weight. (I'm going with that excuse, anyway).

So I'm going to experiment for two weeks and see if I get at least 7 1/2 hours sleep a night, will it make any difference to my weight, or my health in general.

What about you? Are you up for a chance to try to improve your health? Let's sleep on it!

Rotary Club dinner

posted by Vivienne McDonald, Group AdministratorTuesday, June 2nd 2009 @ 9:04 PM    post viewed 465 times

I was lucky enough to be invited to a local Rotary Club Information evening last week. (thanks, Antonella!)

It was really great night. And it was much more 'lively' than I had imagined, so that was a bonus.

I have alwys known that Rotary do great work, but it was so enlightening to hear all about the organisation. The number and variety of community service programs, (including their PolioPlus campaign to eradicate polio from the globe) is amazing.

The number of people and clubs they have is staggering - they have 1.2 million members worldwide. Put all those people together for good, and no wonder they do such fabulous work for communities.

So it was a nice night, got to meet some terrific people, and came away aware of what they do, and with a nice buzz.

If you have the chance to go along as a guest to a Rotary meeting, make sure you do! and even better, consider becoming a member.

The website of the Roatry Club of Mt Martha, which is the club I went to, is:  www.mountmartharotary.org.au

That's it for today guys.
